I-B-2-a. JAMES W. SIBERT (1889 – 1947), son of Robert E. Sibert4 (Henry3, David2, John David1)

James W. Sibert was born in October 1889 in Alabama. He died in 1947 in Cherokee County, Alabama. [1] He married Amanda Rebecca Bobo on 27 February 1910 in Collinsville, Cherokee County. [1][2][3] Amanda was the daughter of Jessie W. and Sarah (Bering) Bobo. [4] She was born in February 1886 in Alabama. She died on 17 October 1956 in Collinsville. [1][4]

James W. and Amanda R. Sibert are buried together in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee County; their gravestone has their birth and death years. [1]

According to the census, in 1900, James Sibert, born in October 1889 in Alabama, lived with his mother Rebecca and her second husband Jessie Brown in Stafford, Cherokee County. Amanda R., born in February 1886 in Alabama, was living with her parents Jessie W. and Sarah E. Bobo in Stafford. [5]

In 1910, James W., aged 22, and Mandy R., aged 21, lived in Brindley, Cherokee County with Jessie M. and Rebecca P. Brown. James was a farm laborer. In 1920, James W., aged 31, and Amanda R., aged 29, lived in Stafford with their children Rosco R., aged eight; Olga A., aged five; and William T., aged one. The children were born in Alabama. James was a farmer; Rosco was a farm laborer and did not attend school. In 1930, James W., aged 42, and Amanda R., aged 40, lived in Stafford with their children Roscoe R., aged 18; Olga A., aged 15; and William Theodore, aged 11. James was a farmer; Amanda, Roscoe and Olga were farm laborers. Only William attended school. In 1940, James W., aged 52, and Manda, aged 50, lived in Stafford with their son William T., aged 21. James was a farmer and William was a farm laborer. James had gone to school up to the fourth grade; Manda had gone up to the fifth grade; William had completed one year of high school. [5]

In 1950, Amanda, aged 61, was a widow. She lived in Stafford with her son, William T., aged 31; William's wife Nina, aged 25 and born in Alabama; and her sister Elizabeth Bobo, aged 58. William was a farmer and Nina and Elizabeth were farm laborers. [5]

Children of James W. Sibert and Amanda Bobo:

i. Roscoe Robert Sibert was born on 11 April 1911 in Alabama. [1] He died on 8 August 1981. [1] He married Minnie Velma Sarratt. [1] Minnie was born on 20 April 1910 and died on 2 November 1964. [1] Roscoe and Minnie are buried in the Hunts Chapel Cemetery in Cherokee County. [1]

In 1940, Rosco R., aged 28, and Minnie V., aged 28, lived in Brindley with their children James B., aged six; Jo Ann, aged four; Archie R., aged three; and Robert T., aged seven months. Rosco was a farmer. In 1950 Robert R., aged 38, and Velma, aged 38, lived in Stafford with their children, James B., aged 16; Jo Ann, aged 14; Archie R., aged 12; Robert T., aged ten; William R., aged eight; Peggy J., aged seven; [possibly living]; and Opal D., aged one. Robert was a farmer and James and Jo Ann were farm helpers. [5]

Children of Roscoe R. Sibert and Minnie Velma Sarratt:

ii. Olga Azile (Azelee) Sibert was born on 19 June 1914 in Collinsville. [1][2] She died on 8 September 1998. [1][2] She married Isaac David Cagle on 11 March 1934 in DeKalb County, Alabama. [2, no first name][1][10] Isaac was born on 14 June 1912 and died in May 1981. [1] Olga and Isaac are buried in the DeKalb Memorial Gardens in Geraldine, DeKalb County. [1]

Children of Isaac David Cagle and Olga Azile Sibert:

iii. William Theodore Sibert was born on 27 July 1918 in Cherokee County. [11] He died in 1982. [1] He married Nina ___. Nina was born on 31 December 1924 in Alabama and died on 6 August 1987. [1] William and Nina are buried in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

According to his 16 October 1940 World War II draft card, William was 5 feet, 6 inches tall with brown eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion. He did not have a telephone. [11]
